A Family Legacy Since 1927
The Perry family has been taking care of the community's plumbing, heating, and cooling needs since 1927. That's nearly a century of hands-on experience in the trades — a legacy that runs deep.
HydroClaw was created by Bruce and Jeff Perry — brothers who each run separate contracting businesses. Both hold college degrees, bringing a level of engineering thinking and professionalism that sets them apart. They aren't average contractors. They're problem-solvers who saw a real danger in the field and built a solution.

The Modern Boiler Problem
The plumbing and HVAC industry has evolved. Modern condensing boilers are wall-mounted, compact, and highly efficient. But unlike the old cast-iron boilers that sat on the floor, these units often don't include an integrated expansion tank.
Meanwhile, the traditional air scoop — which used to provide a convenient mounting point for expansion tanks — has been largely replaced by low-loss headers and integrated air removal systems. The result? Contractors are left needing to find a place to mount the expansion tank independently.
Too often, this means the tank ends up hanging from a pipe fitting, loosely strapped to a wall, or propped up in a corner. None of these are safe or professional solutions.
"A waterlogged expansion tank dropping is like a bowling ball falling — it can cause catastrophic damage."
The Real Danger
Here's what makes this a safety issue: expansion tanks contain an internal bladder that separates the air charge from the system water. When that bladder fails — and eventually, they all do — the tank fills with water and becomes "waterlogged."
A waterlogged #30 expansion tank can weigh approximately 45 pounds. A waterlogged #60 tank can reach approximately 72 pounds. That's a tremendous amount of dead weight to be hanging from a half-inch or three-quarter-inch pipe fitting.
Bruce and Jeff had seen it happen too many times — waterlogged tanks stressing piping, cracking solder joints, and in worst cases, pulling away from walls entirely. A dropping tank can damage equipment, flood a mechanical room, and create thousands of dollars in water damage.
The HydroClaw Solution
HydroClaw was born from this real-world problem. Bruce and Jeff designed a heavy-duty steel clamp and bracket system that securely mounts an expansion tank to any structural member or unistrut channel. It's engineered to hold the full weight of even a waterlogged #60 tank.
The design is intentionally simple — because on the job, simple works. No special tools, no complex instructions, no wasted time. Just secure, professional mounting that protects the installation and the property.
HydroClaw prevents catastrophic damage by ensuring that expansion tank weight is transferred to the building structure — not your piping.
"Let us help you do your job — and make it look good too."
Storm King Enterprises
Through Storm King Enterprises, Bruce and Jeff bring HydroClaw to contractors and wholesale distributors across the country. Their mission is straightforward: help contractors do safer, faster, cleaner installations — and help protect the properties they work in.

Storm King Mountain — the iconic Hudson Highlands peak that inspired the company name. Famed in legend by American artists and travelers, it dominates the gap of the Hudson and is the gateway to Newburgh Bay.
